This was my 1973 Datsun 240z. I bought it for $900 in the summer of 1991. I drove it through 1993 when I parked it do to rust in the front subframe that wanted the car to kind of break in half. I learned about struts, brakes, clutches, head gaskets and carburetors with the car. I loved it and I hated it. My orange car was very unreliable, yet when it ran well it was amazing. Gotcha shirt, nike shorts, and nike cross trainers finish up the early 90's motif.

That is all, and no more commenting on the front page for me, whew.

My 71 is reliable, I did rebuild everything though.

How many cords could you fit? Did the dog like it? Did the Clueless women of the the early 90s enjoy it?

In the end the mechanics were very good, it was the underbody that let go. $900 car you know.

Yours is a ‘71? Do you have the correct rear glass?

I think that was the last year of the nice bumpers. Great looking car. I wish I had something cool when I was in HS.

I had a 79 ZX as my first “fun” car, and it rusted in the same place. So much so that, despite my warnings, the flatbed operator tore the car in half when he cranked it down to secure it for its ride to the junkyard.

Two pieces of wood. She didn’t like it, she tried to bite the tires when it was moving, Women of the 90's were not clueless, but the car did a good job of accommodating very tall bangs. Most of the time girls that rode in the car were terrified.

The alignment changed from pulling left to pulling right depending on which side of the car I hit the pot hole with.

I can’t believe my dad let me buy it and I survived. And yes 260z had slightly thicker bumpers with solid rubber bump stops.

I suppose that's why you see dogs in Subaru commercials and not Nissan. The Clueless bit was reference to the film. Were the girls terrified of your driving or the state of the vehicle?

More my car, most teenage girls around my neighborhood had never been in a real sports car in their entire lives. But I like to oppo it too and didn’t really care if passenger was scared.

Yes the paint and glass is original, mine is actually an early 71 and seems to be half series I/II. I have some things listed as series I parts but maybe they didn’t finish using all the bits and threw whatever on.

Very cool! I’m sure that you know this, but 71 was a one year rear glass. The lines for the defroster run vertically rather than horizontally. Be careful with it. Mine was a 71 also, it was orange too, but the paint was redone and the car needed work. It looked great tho.

This shot was back when I had a Z collection LOL

This is how I found it in a shed:

And a bit of work and it’s better. That’s not tint, it just has the sun shade in.

Yeah the glass has the vertical lines, I didn’t know it was only one year, I guess I thought the 69/70 had it too. I hate my side trim they put on it as a dealer option, if I ever repaint those are going. The only issue with the paint is the front of the hood, someone dinged it and then we painted it but it doesn’t match the patina. I might wrap it black from fender to fender like the rally cars until I decide what to do. I’m sort of transforming it into a classic rally car but I’m not hurting the car at all. I did put disk brakes in the rear but they are a bolt on kit. It has a 5 speed too. Engine is rebuilt, pretty much everything under there is rebuilt or better now. We beefed up the dog legs and it’s way stronger than original now, reskinned them.

I think the horizontal vents on the rear hatch will mean it’s an earlier Z.

Yes the 69/70 has the two little hatch vents that suck in exhaust. They got rid of those and made the emblem behind the small side window into a round vent. I was just not aware the vertical lines in the rear glass was only one year, I thought that carried over from the start.

Suck in exhaust is a feature no?
